In automobile manufacturing industry, the spare parts are exported to other countries. For exporting the parts, it has to be securely packed to make sure no damage is caused during transportation. So, the industry used Strapping machine for packaging. The automobile parts are heavier so a robot is used to pick and place the parts on the packaging conveyor for packing. With Automation system the process of packaging can be faster, secured and reliable.
Pick and place robots used in this packaging process, to grab items from an incoming source or designated area and place the items in a packaging container. Here, the engine boxes are picked by robot & those are arranged in 3*3 or 4*4 matrix on a pallet which will select by operator from HMI. The rotating table is used to rotate the pallet while strapping. Based on matrix the strapping will change. After the strapping the whole pallet is ready for packing.
The wooden pallet is placed by the robot on the conveyor. The boxed Engines will be placed on wooden pallet by robot. The way of arranging the boxes on pallet is in matrix form which will in be in form of 3*3, 4*4, 4*3 etc. The matrix selection is done by operator depends on order & availability. After the completion of boxes on pallet, robot will give the completion signal to the plc and then the conveyor will start. The conveyor will transfer the pallet to the rotating table of the strapping machine. Strapping machines generally work by using sensors to detect the presence of a targeted product or pallet. They are then fed strap material via a spool or pulley system and mechanical spinners or arms rotate the straps around the target. This motion is mechanical and quick and can be integrated into an assembly line. The rotation of the pallet or product is performed automatically due the weight of the product.
