Summary:

A poke-yoke is a mechanism in any process that helps an equipment operator avoid (yoke) mistakes (poke). Its purpose is to eliminate product defects by preventing, correcting, or drawing attention to human errors as they occur.

Solution:

Poke Yoke solution is developed for identifying the type of engine (i.e., Petrol or Diesel Engine) in automobile Industry. Here PLC based Automated logic and Barcode scanning system is used. For every engine and part, a barcode is developed and in PLC those barcodes are predefine for the particular engines. When the barcode is scanned, we will get to know whether assembled parts are related to the same engine or not and we will get to know whether it’s a diesel or petrol engine as well.

Barcode scanner is communicated with RS 232 protocol with PLC. After reading the barcode the system will release the lock of the petrol or the diesel gun depending upon the type of the engine. Shift-wise reports will be generated to element the maximum Human errors in the process and also eliminate the reworks.
