Operator Safety System for Manufacturing Shop-floor Machinery

Categories

Summary:

Die casting has the potential to become a hazardous job. This can occur with the use of molten materials, and heavy machinery. Some hazards are blatantly obvious like the threat of molten metal, and the compressing power of a machine. Other hazards are not so evident. These can include particles in the air, steam burns from moulds, as well as sharp metal scrapings on the floor that may puncture boots. The injury rate for people in the die casting industry is roughly twice that of other industries, so it is crucial to follow the necessary steps for the safe execution of the melting, casting, trimming, machining, and finishing processes that go with die casting. Safety devices are an important way to protect operators from machine hazards.

Solution:

Devices such as a fixed guard would safeguard operators from the commonly occurred machine hazards in die casting companies. The fixed guards would provide a barrier that prevents people from reaching into a machine if or when the operator stays away and no matter how unlikely that may be in a state-of-the-art foundry.

The ideal time to find out whether a foundry machine is working smoothly is at the beginning of a die casting cycle and not in between. Die casters would ensure the machines are clean and the cyclical manufacturing is good to go right up. Die casting companies yield perfect net shape in a component where followed safeguards will complete the manufacturing process on time.

Operator Safety System for Manufacturing Shop-floor Machinery

In the Safety System for Die Casting Machine, the machine consists of two Dies one is movable and the other is fixed. The liquid material is dispensed in between the two Dies such that the movable die moves and moulds it in to a certain shape. Then a robot will collect the moulded material which is then forwarded for further processes. A servo motor is present on the top of the die, after the moulding process the servo with the water sprinkler will move towards the dies and the cleaning process will start such that the excess moulded that is struck in the moulding dies will be cleaned off. And then the servo moves to its home position. During this process the doors are interlocked such that no person can enter inside.
